ridge house
COMPLETED 2007 | 3,200 S.F.
Balanced on the spine of a rocky ridge, this linear house threads through a grove of arbutus trees. As you move through the island residence, the gabled entrance roof gradually inverts into a butterfly roof opening to the light and views of the surrounding forest. The rhythm of the rafter roof structure is subtle and the spatial mood changes dramatically from enclosed and protective at the entrance to open and expansive in the living and dining areas.
